If you are looking to have a sales person come to your home to better educate you on the walk in bathtubs these are the companies for you. They will offer to have a sales rep come to your home and take a look at your bathroom to see exactly which tub would fit best in your specific bathroom layout.
These companies will handle the entire installation and make it very easy on you to make a decision. They will spend as much time as you need to answer all of your questions and determine which Walk In Tub is right for you.
If you are having difficulties choosing the right Walk In Tub that would fit and if you are looking for a company to install the tub as well this is the best way to go. Expect to pay more for the additional service but again it is the one on one service and customer care that you are paying for.
We do not endorse any Walk in Bathtub Company in particular; however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company.
It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by asking for the companies IAPMO Approval as well as UL certification. Try to avoid paying an excess for your tub and keep your 3 day cancellation rights and warranty paperwork.
was excited to purchase this tub, however would not have done so had i been able to see exact product. certain questions were not answered satisfactorily and many options were unnecessary and drove up the price of the tub. was not informed nor given any choices of the tub surround and faucet fixtures other than chrome or stainless steel. There are No labels whatsoever on the tub, just chrome buttons to push and turn. Product is marketed to the elderly and this particular tub came with many options that weren’t necessary and some that would have improved the safety and comfort of the tub were left off. pressure of jets are too forceful and hand held shower spray in positioned so that you can’t use it without soaking the entire bath room, walls, floor, etc. there should be a safety plug to help empty the tub quickly in case of emergency. Door entrance is TOO small for many people and was never completely identified in brochure as to size. After I realized that I was too large to fit easily through the door i tried to cancel the order and was told i could not that it had already been ordered. However it too way longer than anticipated to get the tub installed. there should also be a shower curtain of some other sliding door across the top of the tub to keep water from shower head and pressure jets off the ceiling and floor . I have tried to find some sort of curtain that would prevent this. I have since seen other tubs made with the features i hvae mentioned and they are much cheaper in price. for those reasons and more i think the tub should be redesigned and the price should be reduced by at least 1/3 the cost I paid for my. I would like to have a refund on this tub. it is dangerous for old people to use
some people… really your gonna bitch about the price?? your probably really cheap… this is the best tub on the market. You could have gone with some cheap tub like premier, and pay for some out sourced red china plastic that an uncertified tech will install … pull your head out your … and thank God you got something with quality then complain aobut a little water… >.>
John,
Ruby has a very valid complaint! I have to think that almost anybody would have been very disappointed with the installation of that Walk In Tub. No shower curtain or labels for the buttons to insure safe and proper operation of the jets? Really John??? HOW CHEAP YOU ARE!!! And … you call her a bitch for expressing her dissatisfaction? I have a much better description of you, John. You are a lowly piece of sh*t sales dog. It’s sales people like you who put a very bad taste in the consumers’ mouth, and distrust in their minds. True professional sales people, the ones who, genuinely do care about their customers’ well being and needs, are tired of being associated with greedy, low life, unaccountable, sales dogs like you. I am quite certain that she is not the first to complain, and it is in your frustration that you took it out on her. Stop whining like the loser you are and give Ruby Craver the respect she deserves to have. In addition, give her back some of her money! JERK!
Are you willing to give me the price you paid for your tub?
Ruby Craver, Cemmons, nc says all the things that I feel. I wish I had had access to her letter before I purchased my Safe Step. I was excited to purchase this tub, however would not have done so had I been able to see exact product. certain questions were not answered satisfactorily and still have not been. Number one issue for me is that the shower head does not have an on/off control or a shower curtain to keep the water inside the tub, and water is sent all over the bathroom not to mention much wasted. It is not practical to use the jacuzzi function each time as it requires 65 gallons to fill. The company that installed it in my home never sent a representative to see whether or not I was satisfied or to check the workmanship of their installers. I found it to be exceptionally shoddy. I have had 2 friends ask for recommendations and have told them of my experience and refusal to recommend. It is extremely pricey but I had accepted that.
We had two other tub companies come to our home. one much higher in price and one much cheaper.(the cheaper tub was just that a cheap china tub) We went with safe step because the tub is made in the usa! Ours sales rep chris was great, no presure and super helpful. There was also a Lifetime warranty on the tub.
Was an “easy payment plan” option available?
Purchased this tub for our elderly Mother. Overall it has been great for her. A couple of issues with the buttons you push for air jets/lights are hard for her to do with arthritic hands so I had to improvise a tool. The other is there is really little regulation for the force of the main air flow jets and she finds it too forceful. She does use the back and seat jets. The price was more than I expected but seem to be inline with other products that I think are not as good.
what sort of tool did you improvise for your mother. I have the same problem. Also there are no labels on the buttons and the force of the jets is too strong. i have yet to get a reply from the company regarding some of the same issues.
To assure safety for the walk-in tub you are planning to purchase it would be useful to ask for some advices and try to ask if the tub really fits to the standards and regulations. It is better to assure the safeness and standards before buying to prevent more accidents and regrets.
I am very interested in getting a walk in bath tub; have so far had very bad luck getting any information about prices. I am not rich and prices a very important to me as well as quality.
A walk-in bathtub can be purchased anywhere from $1,000 upwards of $20,000.
What was the price may I ask?
Before selling my Classic Walk-In Tubs which has Air Hydrotherapy and Whirlpool. I take the time to explain in depth about this tub. If a potential customer is over 75, I normally do not recommend the whirlpool (water jets) unless someone younger will be using the tub also. The whirlpool jets are to rough on the skin. Don’t get me wrong this is a great walk in bath tub that we made in TX. It is very popular with our baby boomers that are building or remodeling preparing for their future. Our best sellers are our Sierra and Sienna Walk-In Tubs models they are both air hydrotherapy the only difference in these two tubs is their width and a couple of air jets. These two tubs are fabulous for any potential customer. These tubs of course are made for safety, comfort and independence. They come as a soaker tub only or with air jets the motor is a 3 speed 1 HP 3 speed blower. Once the motor is activated and the air starts to circulate millions of bubbles surround the body. The older we get the more our bodies need air. Air hydrotherapy has so many benefits it is unbelievable not only is the air great for relief of aches and pains, circulation, arthritis, neuropathy, diabetes, stress, insomnia the list goes on and on. Air senses the weaker parts of our body that need relief from different ailments. Therefore after an air hydrotherapy bath in a Walk-In TubsWalk-In Tubs once you get the air bubbles going you will feel as if you have been to the day spa. If you are looking for information please give me a call. I will take the time to answer any question that you might have. We are family owned and operated and have been making our tub in TX for almost 5 years now. We ship all of the USA and installations all over the state of TX. We have a great warranty and
Walk-In Tubs we stand behind our warranty. Please check us out and follow us on Face book and Tweeter. Our website has just been updated with new pictures and information. Also Granbury, TX is just outside of Fort Worth, TX so if close come by our showroom.
Sincerely,

My 89 year old mother had a salesman come to her home from Safe Step Walk-In Tubs of Michigan. She had planned for her bank to finance this tub but they declined because of the price. She called and cancelled as soon as she found out the bank would not finance. She also called her credit card to stop the deposit from being paid but they paid it anyway. After looking at her contract it was discovered that it had been back dated by a day. Contract also stated that the down payment would be 10% of the contract price or $1000, whichever was smaller. The contract price was $14995 and they charged her credit card $1995 deposit. We are now disputing that charge. She sent the cancellation form back to them by registered mail and they have failed to pick it up from the post office for the past 2 weeks. When she calls she gets the run around that they have received her cancellation and “everything is taken care of”. Hardly, there has been no refund of her deposit and her credit card company has received nothing from Safe Step advising them to credit her account. This has been going on a month now and I intend to also file a complaint with the BBB. I believe these companies prey on the elderly. I would advise anyone thinking about one of these tubs to do their homework and check out a local business, such as Home Depot, first. There are many less expensive tubs out there and they can arrange installation. For $15,000 this tub should have been trimmed in gold.
My 89 year old mother had a salesman from Safe Step visit her home in March. She had to cancel because her bank would not finance, too expensive. Contract said down payment would be $1000 or 10% of contract price, $14995, whichever was smaller. They charged her credit card $1995 for the deposit. She mailed the cancellation back by registered mail but it has since been returned to her as no one ever picked it up at the post office. To date her deposit still has not been refunded. She has disputed the charge with the credit card company and called the corporate office numerous times, as have I. Complaint has been filed with Better Business Bureau. Do not become involved with these people. There are walk-in tubs at Home Depot and other home stores for much less and they arrange installation with local contractors.
My mother scheduled a consultation and asked me to sit in when the guy came. My father, who has dementia, also sat in. The inquiry was primarily for him because we have such a hard time bathing him since he can’t walk and resists transport assistance. We also thought the jets would help his circulation. I thought it was a bit pricey but didn’t have time to do online research. Installation and delivery was included so over all, it’s not a horrible deal.
Normally, it takes two people to get my dad in and out the tub. When the tub was installed we realized it was going to be harder than we expected to get him in and out. We still needed two people but had a lot less space to work with.
His first bath was a disaster. The first problem was the noise. It makes much more noise than a regular tub when filling. To make matters worse, the noise from the jets is even louder and scared him so we tried to reduce the air force. Since the buttons and knobs are not well labeled, we played around with adjustment and had water shooting all over the bathroom so we turned them off. Then he decided to slide down the seat so the bath ended abruptly. My sister let the water out and got in to stop him before he slid further. The next ordeal was getting them both out. As usual, he resisted help. During the transfer, my sister ended up with my father wedged between her legs, crushing one in the doorway as he slid to the floor. I lifted him so my sister could get her leg out and pulled him out. He was shaking like a leaf and hyperventilating. That was 2 months ago. I’ve used it once since then.
My main beefs with the tub are lack of operating information, difficulty pressing buttons, lack of clear indicators on dials and difficulty getting in and out of it for my dad.
I tried the tub myself a few weeks later. It’s really difficult to relax when you have jet engines roaring in your ears and water shooting in arcs across the room so I turned the jets off and soaked. It was nice but I can soak in my own tub and get much more comfortable. The next day my back and shoulders felt more relaxed so the tub did help, but it’s an ordeal that I’d rather not deal with considering all the things I HAVE to deal with.
If you’re getting the tub for someone that needs considerable assistance, you might want to reconsider.
I need to talk to Mary with the 89 yr old mom in Michigan. We just spent almost 3 hours with a Rep from this company and I have an uneasy feeling about this. My mom would not buckle to the pressure of signing a contract while he was there and he became very agitated with her. I expected that. But a couple of things bothered me. He had no business cards, said they don’t have them. He could not/ would not provide me with a schematic or cross section of the tub, stating most people aren’t interested in that. Then when my mother asked for a copy of the notes he was making on the price and features that would be included so she had something to look at while she thought about it, he told her no she didn’t need it and it didn’t pertain to her. He proceeded to scratch the price on the back of a brochure telling her that’s all she needed. (I ended up taking a picture of it wiht my cell phone camera)He also got quite upset with her and told her this visit cost the company $1,000 just for him to come there..and that most people know how much money they have in the bank so they don’t have to think about it…it was all part of the pressure tactics. Aside from that he told us that they were the ONLY company that sold American made tubs and the ONLY company with an A+rating from the BBB, and the ONLY company with UL approval. Oh and the ONLY company to have a fiberglass construction with a gelcoat finish. I coud go on but you get the idea. We liked the product but with these” little lies” I’m very suspect now. I think that fact alone is going to be the deal-breaker.
Mary…
I’m very familiar with these contracts for Safe Step. Although there are many independent branches (which Michigan is), they all keep the same paperwork. If the contract stated that she would be paying a $1,000 deposit, that’s all the proof you need to provide to the bank or credit card company which it was taken from. There’s not a credit card company or bank that wouldn’t side with their account holder over the merchant. Merchants have to pay hefty fees and risk being banned if they fraudulently charge as you’re stating.
The Better Business Bureau, if you were in the right… Would have offered FREE or LOW COST arbitration for your case. Safe Step is a Better Business Bureau accredited business with an A rating, this type of thing would heavily damage their reputation.
The United States Post Office will not allow anymore mail to be delivered to an address if a registered letter is refused or disregarded. This is precisely the reason why registered letters are used in legal proceedings. The letter couldn’t have been returned unless the wrong address was written, or it wasn’t sent as a registered letter.
I’m not an advocate for Safe Step, I actually sell the cheaper Chinese made tubs. However, I did used to work for Safe Step and we STRIVE to achieve a status similar to that of Safe Step Tubs. I found SafeSteps website, it should say more about their BBB Accreditation and how the BBB helps resolve problems, just click the link above (I made the link my name). I’m not calling you a liar by any means Mary…
It just seems as if you’re upset about your Mother purchasing a tub. There are two types of children, ones who will support their parents in any decision as long as it betters themselves, and others who will allow their parents to sacrifice so that they have more to look forward to when they’re gone.
