Walk-in bathtubs are not covered by private insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. Walk-in bathtubs are considered a luxury item.
The VA is one agency that may cover a percentage of the cost for a walk-in bathtub.
Our research has provided little indication that most companies offer financing for walk-in bathtubs at this time. Some of the big box retailers like Sears may offer financing and you should check on a case-by-case basis. Rarely will a smaller walk-in bathtub company be able to offer financing at competitive rates. Be cautious with the interest rates if you find one because we’ve seen some upwards of 30%.
